Our thoughts go out to all affected by the Maui wildfire

As the island of Maui continues to suffer from last week's devastating wildfire, Beaver Nation's thoughts are with those whose lives have been affected, including our nearly 2,400 alumni in Hawaii. We are grateful to everyone who is helping with the recovery effort.

Meet up with Beaver Nation in San Jose | Sept. 3

Gather for a casual meetup at Stanley’s Sports Bar in San Jose (five minutes from the stadium) and get amped up to cheer our student-athletes to victory against the Spartans. Attendance is free and light appetizers are provided. Bonus: OSUAA Tailgate Town events away and at home will be offering exclusive, limited quantity stickers for every game this season — join us and collect them all!

Show your pride at OSUAA Tailgate Town | Sept. 9

Celebrate the newly Completed Reser Stadium at the season’s first home game! Get excited to cheer for the Beavs with snacks and drinks, yard games, photo booths, swag giveaways and Beaver Classic treats at the free and family friendly OSUAA Tailgate Town prior to the football game.

Voyage to Costa Rica with Travel Talks | Sept. 12

Explore a land of cascading waterfalls, lush rainforests, volcanoes, white sand beaches and awe-inspiring wildlife sightings. Take a photo journey to Costa Rica led by Kate Sanders, director of alumni group travel, and preview the Costa Rica’s Natural Heritage tour that you can join in 2024 with fellow Beavers.

Come home to Oregon State | Oct. 13-14

Have you made plans for Homecoming Weekend? Reconnect and reminisce, enjoy memorable activities and OSU traditions and cheer for an Oregon State victory against the UCLA Bruins. Have your solar glasses at the ready — Homecoming Weekend coincides with an annular solar eclipse, and Corvallis is in the best path for viewing the “ring of fire” spectacle on Saturday morning!

FAN-tastic family fun day at Reser Stadium | Aug. 19

Be a part of history: OSU Athletics is opening Reser Stadium to the public for the first time since construction completed. Stroll through the west side and tour the new health center and welcome center. Sample new food items from the open concession stands, get autographs from OSU student-athletes and take the kids onto the field to enjoy inflatables.

Rowing for gold

Congrats to Oregon State women’s rowers Giulia Clerici (Team Italy) and Evan Park (Team USA), who brought home gold for their respective boats at the Under 23 World Rowing Championships held in Bulgaria.

Beavers drafted into the MLB

Four Beavs had their names called in the 2023 MLB draft. Congratulations to first baseman Garret Forrester, pitcher Ryan Brown, infielder Mikey Kane and quarterback — as in football! — DJ Uiagalelei.

» Oregon State’s shark research swam prominently into the spotlight with not one but two appearances on the Discovery Channel’s Shark Week schedule!

» College of Engineering researchers are working on a process for upcycling waste PVC — a durable, difficult to recycle plastic used in everything from gutters to surgical tubing to pet toys — into adhesive.

» College of Health Associate Professor Matt Robinson was recently featured on BBC Radio 4’s podcast Stay Young with Michael Mosley, discussing how exercise rejuvenates you at the cellular level, benefiting your muscles, heart, brain and even skin.

» OSU received $4.6 million in grants from the National Science Foundation to continue operating the Marine and Geology Repository, one of the nation’s largest repositories of oceanic sediment cores.
