» Oregon State researchers have received a $4.2 million grant from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture to study a disease plaguing honey bees and affecting pollination of specialty crops.

» A federal investment of $833,127 will enable Oregon State to develop food safety outreach programs, with a focus on culturally appropriate food safety practices and technical assistance for underserved communities.

» Researchers in OSU’s College of Forestry, ranked No. 1 in the nation, have identified the primary factor in a forest that allows trees to combat greenhouse gas emissions. The discovery will allow for more sustainable timber practices.

» OSU’s Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine will test 1,600 wild animals to learn which species can harbor and transmit the virus responsible for COVID-19 to better predict animal-to-human disease outbreaks.

» Congratulations to Mike Truong, ’17, and his collaborators in the All the Homies Network for earning a coveted James Beard Award; their video submission beat entries from the likes of Bon Appetit and Top Chef Bravo. » OSU has hired its first counselor focused on serving veterans and military-connected students on the Corvallis campus, Donald Phillips, ’16.

» Pat Casey, who guided OSU to three national championships, six College World Series and 900 victories, will be inducted into the 2024 College Baseball Hall of Fame Class on Feb. 15.

» Last week, the Washington Supreme Court gave Oregon State University and Washington State University a significant legal victory, letting stand the earlier superior court decision to grant us sole governance of the Pac-12 Conference Board as its only remaining members.

» Oregon State has announced its 2024 football schedule! Beaver Football will play seven home games and a dynamic mix of Power 5 and Mountain West matchups. Season ticket renewals and the opportunity to purchase new season tickets is tentatively set for Tuesday, Jan. 2.

» A historic season for Beaver Men’s Soccer came to a close at the College Cup semifinals. The Beavs also made history ending the 2023 season ranked No. 4, the highest postseason ranking in program history. Leave a comment congratulating our student-athletes.

» Beaver Women’s Basketball Coach Scott Rueck became the winningest coach in program history as the Beavs outpaced the Wildcats to claim the 275th victory earned under Rueck’s coaching.

» Women’s Track and Field star Kaylee Mitchell broke her own school record in the 3,000 meters as the Beavers recorded four new top-10 marks.

» Oregon State forward Logan Farrington has been named Pac-12 Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year.
