We are Dam Proud to announce the first annual Dam Proud Day Student Design T-shirt Contest winner! Jacob Fischer earned the grand prize, and his winning design will be printed on 1,000 Dam Proud Day tees worn across Oregon State. Courtney Crook took second place and Rebecca Sweet placed third.

Join us online or in-person for the Provost’s Lecture featuring Michael Pollan, a New York Times bestselling author exploring the intersection of human and natural worlds. At this lecture, co-presented by the Office of the Provost and the OSU Foundation, he will discuss his latest book This is Your Mind on Plants, followed by a Q&A with Emily Ho, university distinguished professor of nutrition and endowed director of the Linus Pauling Institute.

Bring OSU Days of Service into the workplace

Make an impact during the OSU Days of Service in May! Think outside the box and consider how your career wisdom can be used in service of others as Beaver Nation works together to volunteer hundreds of hours on projects benefiting their communities and the university. Here are some ideas to get you started, all achievable by connecting with students and alumni on OSUConnections.org!

  1. Offer mentorship for students and recent grads seeking advice and connections.
  2. Host an informational interview with a student and share how you got from Point A to Point B.
  3. Conduct a mock interview or provide a résumé review — your career experience can help an emerging professional land their dream job.
  4. Speak at a career panel or workshop, such as the Ask Alumni webcast series.
  5. Serve on an OSU advisory board or committee, providing input that improves students’ degree programs and career readiness.

» Brianna Yu, a third-year civil engineering student, received the New Faces of Civil Engineering recognition from the American Society of Civil Engineers for her leadership with Oregon State’s ASCE chapter and steel bridge team.

» College of Pharmacy researchers, led by led by Gaurav Sahay and Yulia Eygeris, have found a new way to deliver medicine to your lungs and eyes using tiny drug carriers known as lipid nanoparticles. This could be a huge step forward in how we treat genetic lung disease and vision loss.

» OSU's Global Hemp Innovation Center secured a $10 million USDA grant to collaborate with 13 Native American tribes, driving hemp-based economic development across the western U.S., offering sustainable solutions and fostering rural prosperity.

» An international team led by Kyriakos Stylianou from the College of Science discovered a material capable of completely removing a common weedkiller from water sources, a vital step toward combatting water pollution and safeguarding global health.

» Big congratulations to student team Kimcheer from OSU, selected as a finalist in the Mars Product Development Competition at IFT First in Chicago to showcase their innovative snack mix with lotus root, tempeh, rice paper and sweet potato chips seasoned with kimchi spice powder.

» OSU celebrates the selection of Dawn Wright as a U.S. Science Envoy. The OSU courtesy professor and chief scientist of Esri joins a historic all-female cohort, where she'll represent America's scientific leadership in oceanography, emphasizing collaboration and innovation to address global challenges.

Whole grain champion sowed healthy futures

OSU honors the life and legacy of honorary alumnus Bob Moore, who died Feb. 10. Bob and his late wife, Charlee, founded Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods, Inc. and shared a passion for promoting wellness through healthy eating. This commitment inspired them to in 2011 establish the Moore Family Center for Whole Grain Foods, Nutrition and Preventive Health, housed in the College of Health. In 2012, they were both recognized with the Joan Austin Honorary Alumni Award, established by the OSU Alumni Association to recognize friends of OSU who made outstanding contributions to the university.

» Oregon State Football’s 2024 schedule is official! Get ready to cheer for our student-athletes at home and on the road, with seven matchups played at Reser Stadium. Go Beavs!

» With a postseason record crowd of 7,227 fans providing an electric atmosphere in Gill Coliseum, Oregon State Women’s Basketball had a strong defensive showing to defeat Nebraska and advance to the Sweet 16! The Beavers will play in New York at 2:30 p.m. ET on Friday against Notre Dame, televised on ESPN.

» Kaylee Mitchell closed her remarkable Oregon State track and field career with a historic 10th All-American honor, solidifying her legacy as the most decorated runner in school history and having helped the Beavers achieve their highest national championship point totals since the return of the program in 2004.

» Oregon State's Raegan Beers secures her first All-America honor, joining the ranks of OSU's distinguished athletes. Beers has been named all-conference in both of her first two years with the program.

» Women’s Basketball Head Coach Scott Rueck was voted the Pac-12 Conference coach of the year by members of the media for the fifth time in his 14 seasons in Corvallis.

» Keep on cheering, Beaver Nation! An astonishing 23,392 fans came through Gill Coliseum in 2024, averaging 4,678 per meet. Both rank second-most in the last 20 years.

» “A chill now hangs in the air when I arrive at the boathouse on Oregon’s Willamette River. It’s 6:30 a.m.” Evan Park of the OSU Women's Rowing team recounts her unexpected journey from walk-on to scholarship athlete to the uncertainties of conference realignment and highlights the pivotal role of rowing in shaping her OSU experience.
