Milk 101 with OSU nutrition scientists | April 23

Drink in all things milk with College of Health experts in a town-hall style webcast. Ask about the biology, health effects, misconceptions, infant and adult nutrition, and latest research on milk. Dave Dallas, associate professor and endowed director of the Moore Family Center for Whole Grain Foods, Nutrition and Preventive Health, and graduate students answer your questions live.

University Distinguished Professor Lecture: Advancing maternal health | April 29

Melissa Cheyney, an anthropology professor in the College of Liberal Arts and licensed midwife, shares insights from her specialized medical anthropology research — examining contemporary health conditions, including maternal and infant health patterns, in cross-cultural and evolutionary perspectives.

» A team of Oregon State University food science students won third place at a national product development and baking competition with their "Garden Box Cookie," based on the French canelé pastry.

» In-Hwan Lee and Luyao Ma from the College of Agricultural Sciences are exploring how machine learning, optical sensors and robotics can improve food quality assessment — using AI to analyze food without damaging it, reducing waste and increasing process efficiency and precision.

» “I think about other students back home and if I was not in this position. That person would have been wishing that they had every opportunity I have here,” says Estifanos Berhe, a biochemistry and molecular biology student researching autoimmune diseases, fostering community at one of OSU’s cultural resource centers and founding a new club to support undergrad researchers.

» Two Beavers were recognized by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association in 2025 for their contributions to the veterinary field. The President's Award was presented to Dr. Kurt Williams and the Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at OSU (where he serves as director), and the Meritorious Service Award went to Dr. Doug McInnis, ’83, DVM ’87.
