For the love of Beaver Basketball

Growing up in Corvallis, Joth Ricci joined the crowds packing Gill Coliseum, cheering for the Beavs coached by Ralph Miller. Basketball made a slam dunk into his heart, and so did Oregon State University. After graduating in 1990, Ricci channeled his passion for coaching into leadership positions with companies like Dutch Bros while also staying active with the university, including as chair of the OSUAA board.

Now Ricci, his wife Robin Ricci and their family have given back in another way, with a gift creating endowments to equally support men’s and women’s basketball in perpetuity. “We’re at a really important time for our athletics program, when we can build it into something stronger,” he says. “We don’t want to let off the gas. This is the time to prepare for the future, and everyone can be part of it.”

» OSU-led PacWave, the first utility-scale wave energy test site in the U.S., is nearing completion; it will harness the motion of waves and advance the world’s understanding of this largely untapped clean energy source. OSU professor and chief scientist, Burke Hales, explains the challenges of laying the cables beneath the sea floor and the project’s next steps.
