» OSU College of Engineering researcher Sieun Chae helped develop an innovative computer chip that significantly reduces the energy consumption of artificial intelligence systems. The chip, which mimics biological neural networks, has the potential to improve energy efficiency by six times, marking a major step forward in sustainable AI technology.

» Maud Powell, an OSU professor and farmer, is leading a groundbreaking initiative to help Oregon farmers and ranchers cope with the mental health challenges of climate change. Through workshops and training, her team is addressing "climate stress and grief," offering strategies for building resilient outlooks and practical farming strategies to sustain their livelihoods amidst environmental impacts.

» OSU researchers and local partners are collaborating to restore Ross Island, a key ecosystem in the Willamette River. By removing invasive species, replanting native vegetation and enhancing fish habitats, they are reversing years of ecological damage and helping protect vital wildlife and recreational activities in the Portland area.

» OSU researchers, led by College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences Professor Adam Schultz, completed a nearly 20-year project to create a 3D geoelectric map of the U.S. to safeguard the power grid from threats like solar storms and electromagnetic pulses. This pioneering effort provides crucial data to power companies and scientists, helping protect the grid while also identifying geological hazards and opportunities for geothermal energy exploration.

» Sports Illustrated named OSU’s Tourism Recreation and Adventure Leadership program one of the best adventure degrees for aspiring outdoor professionals, highlighting opportunities to take classes on outdoor living skills, rock climbing, whitewater kayaking mountain expeditions and more.

» Former Oregon State volleyball star and OSU Foundation Trustee Nikki Neuburger, ’04, successfully transitioned from athletics to business leadership, eventually becoming chief brand officer at lululemon. She credits her experiences on the court for instilling the teamwork and resilience that helped her excel in the corporate world.

» Representing Oregon State internationally, rowers Giulia Clerici and Linda Weitmann achieved top finishes at the 2024 World Rowing Championships. Clerici, a rising junior, won a silver medal in her category, while Weitmann, an incoming freshman, finished sixth in her category.

» Congratulations to OSU Wrestling student-athlete Aden Attao for recently being named USA Wrestling’s Athlete of the Week and OSU Men’s Soccer student-athlete Ellis Spikner for being named West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

» The OSU Cross Country program started their season strong at the Linfield Harrier Classic, with student-athlete Paige Wiley claiming first place and the team placing second overall. Go Beavs!
