» An OSU study found that military veterans’ perceptions of their combat experiences and the social supports they receive when they return home are greater predictors of post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms than the specific conflict in which they served.

» Oregon State received funding to develop a set of wildfire smoke preparedness and protection interventions, including resources that can be used by schools, preschools and day cares. The grant is part of a $3.4 million effort across the Pacific Northwest.

» OSU-Cascades professor Jill Hubbard received a $628,000 award from the Department of Education to expand computer science education for K-12 students and increase participation by underserved students.

» OSU-developed SureSeal technology — a tissue-thin, food-grade film developed over a decade ago to protect cherries from cracking because of rain — was featured at a Las Vegas conference. Researchers in Spain and the U.S. discussed finding positive results when used on other crops.
