» Fifty-five years ago, Douglas Engelbart, ’48, ’94 (Hon. Ph.D.), who designed the first computer mouse, unveiled the future of computers in a demonstration known today as the “Mother of All Demos.” He received a standing ovation from the crowd of over 1,000 computer and engineering scientists.
» Computer science instructor Kari Wagstaff is working in Washington, D.C, this academic year, serving as an artificial intelligence expert and advisor in an Arizona senator’s office.
» Lauren Gwin, who helped found the Oregon State University Center for Small Farms and Community Food Systems in 2013, has been named the organization’s director.
» A new, interactive plant hardiness map co-developed by Oregon State’s PRISM Climate Group and the U.S. Department of Agriculture is helping gardeners nationwide determine which plants are most likely to survive the coldest winter temperatures.
