» A project led by an OSU-Cascades researcher seeks to develop a smart compost bin to track household food waste and address the fact that more than one-third of all food produced in the U.S. goes uneaten each year.

» Olivia Quiroz, ’05, was honored in 2023 as an Alumni Fellow for her historic work to address health disparities for Latinx people and other underserved communities.

» Ph.D. candidate Divya Smitha Yerram Reddy, MPH ’20, works with OSU’s Botswana Global Learning Internship Program to provide reliable information about sexual and reproductive health to address HIV in Botswana.

» A breakthrough in computer chip energy efficiency by researchers at OSU and Baylor University could cut the electricity use of data centers, which account for roughly 2% of all electricity use in the U.S.

Breaking barriers in athletics

Among the eight faculty, staff and students honored during the Breaking Barriers awards banquet for their work to advance gender equity at OSU, Colleen Bee received the Breaking Barriers in Athletics Award. Head of the School of Marketing, Analytics and Design and OSU’s first female Faculty Athletics Representative, she supports the academic integrity of the university’s athletics programs and acts as an advocate for OSU student-athletes.

A high-energy, 41-win season for Beaver Baseball ended Monday against LSU during the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional Finals. It was OSU’s third consecutive season advancing to a regional title game. We're dam proud of our incredible student-athletes — Go Beavs!
