Longtime friends and musical collaborators, Andrew Bird and Jimbo Mathus, have brought their music to life on some of the world’s most renowned stages and on hit TV series and talk shows. Next, they bring their talents virtually to Oregon State. Join OSU Director of Popular Music and Performing Arts, Bob Santelli, for a rich discussion about the pair’s musical history and new album, These 13, and listen to an American Strings-exclusive video performance.



Food brings communities together | May 27

The dishes on the table tell a story — of history, geography, culture and more. Join a virtual panel of Asian and Pacific Islander (API) alumni and student leaders to discuss the importance of food in API communities and how participating with the OSU Global Community Kitchen has played a role in their food-based cultural connections.

Let’s hear it for Beaver Nation! In this year’s ranking of nearly 20,000 higher education institutions worldwide, Oregon State University ranked in the top 1.4% based on quality of education, faculty and research performance and alumni employment.



The White House calls on Beaver faculty

The Biden administration nominated College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences Professor Rick Spinrad, M.S. ’78, Ph.D. ’82, to head the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Fun fact: Spinrad, an internationally recognized scientist, is the third OSU faculty member to be tapped for the role.
