HELPING BEAVERS BE WELL
Connection builds resilience
The last few years have been difficult. But the good news is that students have learned skills through the challenges of the pandemic that are transferable, such as the ability to be self-motivated, resourceful and resilient. These skills will serve them well on campus and help them to be flexible in the face of obstacles or unpredictable events.
One of the most important keys to overcoming challenges is having strong social connections. Students thrive when they find their people. Connecting with other students outside of the classroom is a big part of the college experience, and OSU offers countless ways for students to get involved. At OSU, students engage with cultural resource centers that celebrate and embrace the richness of our community, better the world through civic engagement, develop connections in student clubs and organizations and compete in recreational sports. Encourage your student to explore our vast array of co-curricular opportunities. Getting involved will help them pursue their interests, develop leadership skills and forge lasting friendships. When Beavers find their community, it contributes to their holistic development and success at OSU.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
The services offered by CAPS are set up to respond to a wide variety of needs and concerns college students face. Encourage your student(s) to explore the Anytime Anywhere website and app to access free, confidential mental health and wellness counseling any time of day, from anywhere in the world, 365 days a year.

Prioritizing student mental health takes all of us
The Oregon State University community is demonstrating a powerful commitment to supporting our students’ well-being by joining together to support the Student Mental Health Fund. Across the nation, strong mental health has been critical to students’ ability to succeed in college — yet in 2022, 81% of OSU students reported moderate or serious psychological distress. Whether students need support managing depression, anxiety or other concerns, the OSU community must work together to ensure students have the support they need.
Inside OSU’s new Health Center
OSU’s Student Health Services in June began providing clinical services in the newly constructed Health Center near Reser Stadium, one of three new locations. With the new Health Center, the university builds upon its partnership with Samaritan Health Services and expands health care for students and other community members. The Health Center location includes a SamCare Express for same-day care of non-life-threatening health concerns. Students will be able to visit SamCare Express in the evenings and on the weekends when OSU Student Health facilities are closed. OSU students may access other services, such as X-rays and a pharmacy, at the Samaritan Athletic Medicine Center on campus.
