Momentum builds for Oregon State’s new research center

After Oregon lawmakers approved $72 million in capital bonds for OSU’s Jen-Hsun and Lori Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex, groundbreaking for the new team-based research center is scheduled to begin in December. Thank you to the legislators and Beaver Caucus advocates who helped ensure this victory! Aligned with a $50 million lead gift from College of Engineering alumni Jen-Hsun Huang, ’84, and Lori Huang, ’85, the funding will accelerate OSU’s research to solve challenges of vital importance to the world.

» An astrophysics collaboration led by OSU found a “chorus” of gravitational waves are permeating the universe at low frequencies, resulting in a milestone announcement of a deeper understanding of the creation of the universe.

» College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences Professor Aaron Wolf is the 2023 recipient of the Michael P. Malone International Leadership award, which recognizes individuals who advance international education at public universities.

» Researchers in the College of Science, including Kyriakos Stylianou who holds the endowed position of Terence Bradshaw Chemistry Professor, have demonstrated the potential of an inexpensive material that can better capture carbon from industrial emissions.
