The Oregon State University Extension Service Fire Program has a slate of free online webinars and resources to help you take action to protect yourself, your home and your community from wildfire.

» Fire in the forecast: OSU Professors John Bailey and Erica Fleishman told OPB the hotter, drier weather could last well into autumn and advanced planning for the atypical season is key.

» Be aware and prepared: How can you lessen the impact of wildfire on your home? What should you pack ahead of time in case of a wildfire evacuation? The OSU Extension Fire Program answers these questions and more.

» Defending Oregon's food industry: Heat, drought and wildfires have been testing every aspect of Oregon’s food industry. And OSU is stepping up to create solutions, from safeguarding rangelands with help from cattle to developing coatings for fruit that could protect against wildfire smoke.

» Mass timber gets a trial by fire: Oregon State has received a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to study the effects of fire on mass timber products for use in construction.

» Until now, it was widely accepted that vegetation always reduces erosion on dunes. But College of Engineering researchers at OSU's O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Lab discovered that ones without an established root structure can actually speed erosion.

» Tuba Özkan-Haller, dean of Oregon State University’s College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences, has been named co-chair of the National Academies’ 2025-2035 Decadal Survey of Ocean Sciences.

Three for three in All-American honors

Oregon State’s high-performing track and field program saw three Beavers earn NCAA All-American Honors for the first time in school history! Congratulations to Grace Fetherstonhaugh, Kaylee Mitchell and Jade Whitfield for setting a new standard for the program.
