Oregon State Women’s Rowing is headed to the Oregon Coast! Join the Beavs at Cullaby Lake in Warrenton for a rare chance to experience Beaver rowing up close. On Friday, Sept. 18, watch the team practice from 3-5 p.m. from shore or join them on a motor boat (arrive by 2:30 p.m.). Then on Saturday, Sept. 19, get on the water yourself during a Learn to Row clinic, with one-hour sessions available at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. Meet the student-athletes, cheer on the Beavs and get a firsthand look at the sport.

» OSU developed a life-saving treatment for a beloved show horse that arrived at the Lois Bates Acheson Veterinary Teaching Hospital for colic. When Beezus developed an antibiotic-resistant wound infection after her emergency surgery, an experimental treatment using bacteriophages helped the patient make a full recovery, marking a first of its kind success and an approach that could improve animal and human health outcomes. Watch a video documenting the breakthrough treatment.

» A $5 million grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration will help the Oregon State University College of Engineering provide specialized technical training and assistance to small manufacturers across Oregon, building workforce capabilities, regional innovation and strength in American manufacturing.

» OSU professor and director of the OPEnS Lab, Chet Udell, combined his passions for music, engineering and design to build a unique career developing new musical and scientific instruments. Explore his recent projects and interactive installations as Hatfield Marine Science Center’s Artist in Residence.

» Audrey Albaugh, ’72, is helping more than 100 students each year gain real-world clinical experience in shelter hospitals, in efforts to close critical veterinary workforce gaps, through a $1 million gift supporting Oregon Humane’s veterinary training partnership program with OSU’s Gary R. Carlson, MD, College of Veterinary Medicine.
