» It’s common knowledge that the Oregon Stater is a magazine you can’t put down — a fact recognized with two silvers and two bronzes in the 2026 Circle of Excellence Awards from the global nonprofit Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

» OSU College of Pharmacy researchers and global partners have found a promising new way to treat the most aggressive form of brain cancer, glioblastoma, by using sugar-coated nanoparticles to bypass the blood-brain barrier and preferentially target tumors.

» At the Invent Oregon finals, OSU students took home first and second-place awards: Corvallis-based PNW Assistive Technology for their low-cost adaptive ride-on cars for children with disabilities, and Cascade Safety Solutions from OSU-Cascades for their boot-mounted sensor designed to save the lives of skiers and snowboarders trapped head-first in a tree well.

» OSU Wind Ensemble is making the university, the state and the nation proud! They are one of only three U.S. groups invited to perform at the 2026 World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles international conference held last week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and are the first-ever from Oregon to attend.

A family legacy

Inspired by their fathers’ military service during World War II and a desire to thank those who serve today, Bob Jossis, ’70, and Cathy Jossis established a scholarship supporting veteran and active-duty military students in OSU’s School of Civil and Construction Engineering. They named it to honor their dads, turning their family values and admiration for service members into opportunities for future generations.
