This year, we’re rolling out the orange carpet for our graduation classes ending in “5”: 2025, 2015, 2005, 1995, 1985, 1975, 1965, 1955 – it’s your turn to shine! Calling all wine lovers | Sept. 23

» Make that COACH Jade Carey: our two-time Olympian gymnast has joined the Oregon State coaching staff as a Student Assistant Coach. Her incredible collegiate career included program records for event titles (168), perfect 10s (16) and the highest all-around score (39.925), which tied for fourth highest in NCAA history.

» Beavers Wrestling now boasts a world champion. In his second appearance at the U20 United World Wrestling Championship, incoming redshirt sophomore Justin Rademacher captured the 97-kilogram title.

» From walk-on to the nation’s best kicker: witness the amazing journey of OSU Athletics Hall of Famer Alexis Serna in the new Our Beaver Nation documentary, The Long Way Home.”

BEAVERS DOING THE UNBELIEVABLE

» An OSU experiment showing the effects of flooding on one-third scale model houses brought researchers from around the world to the O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Lab in Corvallis this August. A video showing the simulated hurricane surge has attracted over 900,000 likes on Instagram.

» Chemical engineering student Andrew Tran is working on innovative solutions to reduce plastic waste in the environment – and this spring he was awarded a prestigious Barry Goldwater Scholarship in recognition of his accomplishments.

» OSU reeled in honors for work that keeps whales safe from entanglement and Oregon’s iconic Dungeness crab fishery thriving. The project, led by Leigh Torres of the Marine Mammal Institute and Oregon Sea Grant, is one of four regional winners of the 2025 Kellogg Foundation Community Engagement Scholarship Award and will compete nationally for a $20,000 grand prize.

» While scientists have longed for more accurate data on glacier melt, it’s been too dangerous to get close enough to collect it – until now. As shown in a recent video, a cross-disciplinary team at OSU is building custom robotic technology to capture measurements at the face of calving glaciers that were never before possible.

» This summer more than two dozen pre-veterinary students traveled to Mexico to gain hands-on experience working with animals, under the guidance of licensed veterinarians. The program is designed to provide an affordable way for students to get international experience and a better understanding of the veterinary profession.
