September 23 Solar Filter Workshops

Make a solar filter and learn how to photograph the sun in preparation for the Annular Solar Eclipse that will take place on October 14 (Homecoming weekend).

Faculty members Randall Milstein (Physics) and Julia Bradshaw (Photography) together with Tom Carrico (Astrophotographer and member of the Heart of the Valley Astronomy club) will conduct the workshop.

You will learn about eclipses, make a solar filter and receive instruction on how to photograph the annular eclipse.

Workshops take place on Saturdays from 9  - 11 a.m. and are limited to 24 people.

Workshops are open to students and community members. Bring a camera, ideally one with manual controls, and a tripod if you have one. However, we will work with whatever camera you have. All other materials will be provided. No prior skill is needed. All are welcome.
