Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2024 list features two of Beaver Nation’s own among pop stars, politicians, photojournalists, athletes and more: people who have profoundly shaped the world’s narrative over the last year.    — Jensen Huang, ’84, ’09 (Hon. Ph.D.): The Nvidia founder and CEO was lauded for his leadership, determination and ability to evolve and execute — qualities that have helped him design computing hardware that powers some of the most transformative technology of our time. This is on the heels of Huang being named to the TIME100 Most Influential People in AI list last year.    — Suzanne Simard, M.S. ’89, Ph.D. ’96: A forest ecology professor and author of Finding the Mother Tree, Simard’s revolutionary research on how trees communicate information to each other and share resources in extensive underground networks in forests has been widely acclaimed by scientists and forest conservationists — and it’s resonating in pop culture, too, from TED Talks with millions of views to a name-drop on the Apple TV+ comedy Ted Lasso.    Congratulations to Huang and Simard on this tremendous recognition.
