Jade Carey Wins Vault At U.S. Championships; Named To U.S. National Team

TAMPA, Fla. – Jade Carey took first in the vault and fifth overall in addition to being named the USA Gymnastics Athlete of the Year on Sunday at the U.S. Championships at Amalie Arena.
 
Carey scored a 110.900 to earn a place on the 2022-23 U.S. Senior National Team.
 
The Phoenix, Ariz., native took first in the vault after scoring a 14.650 on Sunday, just two days after finishing at 14.800 in the prelims.
 
Carey competed at Oregon State for the first time this past season and was named the Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year and the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. She won nine consecutive all-around titles and earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors six times.
 
The 2022 OOFOS U.S. Gymnastics Championships featured the country's top artistic gymnasts and served as the culmination of the domestic season. Nearly 150 athletes competed across men's and women's junior and senior divisions, and champions were crowned based on combined two-day totals.
