April 07, 2022 | Women's Gymnastics

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Oregon State gymnast Jade Carey has been named the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches Association (WCGA) Region One Gymnast of the Year as it was announced Thursday.

This season, Carey led the region in all events, including the all-around. Carey ranked in the top 10 nationally during the regular season in four events, including all-around (first), bars (second), floor (third), and vault (sixth) while nearly missing out on beam (11th).

For her efforts in the regular season, she earned four first team WCGA Regular Season All-America nods (all-around, vault, bars, floor) and was named second team on beam to become the nation's only gymnast to claim the maximum awards in 2022.

The Pac-12 Gymnast and Freshman of the Year, recently won the individual all-around title at the NCAA Seattle Regional with a collegiate-best 39.850 on Thursday evening. Carey also scored regional-bests on vault (9.975), beam (9.975) and floor (9.975) to cap off the night.

Carey has now won 11-of-11 all-around titles and did not score lower than a 39.650 all season. She also totaled ten floor titles, nine uneven bar and vault titles to go along and eight balance beam titles for a grand total of 47 individual titles. The Olympic gold medalist has hit in all 44 routines this year, including an astonishing 42 9.9s.

After her regional performance, Carey will represent Oregon State at the 2022 NCAA Championships, competing in the all-around.
