Once thinking he’d never study at a university, Daniel De León has been engaged in some deep learning for the past five years. Today he is a master’s student in computer science at Oregon State University and a GEM Fellow with a stack of internships under his belt.

OSU MANRRS presents a structure for academic, professional and social development for students to grow and prepare for the future ahead. 

Centro Cultural César Chávez at Oregon State University

The Centro Cultural César Chávez exists to support the Latinx and Chicanx student community in the achievement of their educational and professional goals and retention of their culture. Further, we provide a space for students to share their culture and heritage with the broader OSU community and inform the OSU community about issues central to Chicanx/Latinx people. 

Juntos

Juntos (meaning “together” in Spanish) works to empower families around education. Uniting with community partners to provide culturally relevant programming for 8-12th grade students and their parents, Juntos is designed to provide families with knowledge, skills, and resources to prevent youth from dropping out of high school, and to encourage families to work together to gain access to college.

Vamos OSU Alumni Network

Vamos OSU is open to all graduates and friends who identify with and support OSU’s Latinx and Chicanx communities. Our goal is to hold space for learning and healing, fostering mentorship between alumni and students, and facilitating new connections.

We provide services to people residing in Benton and Linn Counties. Although there are other agencies that provide services to Latinos, Casa Latinos Unidos is the only community-based organization that is culturally-specific in both counties. We provide free or low-cost basic needs services and culturally-specific programs exclusively to the Latino and Latinx community.

The Linn Benton Hispanic Advisory Committee is a 40+ member community coalition that meets monthly to share information and coordinate resources on behalf of Latinos living in the two-county area.

Oregon multicultural archives: Latino/a People and Culture

The Oregon Multicultural Archives (OMA) assists in preserving the histories and sharing the stories that document Oregon's African American, Asian American, Latino/a, and Native American communities. The diverse collections reflect how these communities have contributed to the identity of the state of Oregon.
